Prof. Isaac Berzin was named one of the 100 most influential people in world in business and science by the Time Magazine (2008) for his pioneering work in sustainable alga-culture.
He is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Vaxa Technologies (2016), bringing to market sustainable, algae-based,  aquaculture, nutrition and health products. Vaxa’s algae production facility is integrated with one of the world’s largest Geothermal Energy production facilities, located near Reykjavik, Iceland.
Berzin is an Affiliated Scientist at MIT, where he conducted his Post-Doctoral research, at Prof. Robert Langer’s lab. He was also a reaserchr at the Kavli Institute for Astrophysics & Space Research, working on a NASA-sponsored project, developing bioreactors for the International Space Station.
Berzin is proffesor at the School for Marine Sciences at the Ruppin Academic Center, Israel and a Visiting Professor at the University of Reikjavik, Iceland.
Berzin holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.
